About Richard Fenner

FACTS CONCERNING: ----Honorable Richard FENNER----- In 1732 Gov Wanton appointed Richard as Judge for the town of Providence. Richard also held the position of Assistant to the Gov in 1740 and he was Judge of Providence County Court of Common Pleas in 1737.

In 1759 Richard was Town Sergeant of Johnston and in 1760 he became the Deputy of Johnston. Prior he had been appointed Deputy for Providence of the General Assembly in the years 1735, 1736, 1739. In addition he had been appointed Justice" of the Peace" by the General Assembly in 1731-1735.

As for his Military service, he was the CAPTAIN of the 3RD Company Providence Between 1733 - 1735 and before, in 1725, he'd attained the rank of Lt in the Providence Troop of Horse.

In 1724 he had been appointed Surveyor of Highways and as a side note his father Thomas and grandfather Arthur were also surveyors. His grandfather laid out the Northern and Western lines of the Colony of RI. Of additional interest is that these three generations followed a remarkably similar career path and in the choice of office and Military achievement.
