Born in England, he was by 1640 at Southampton, Long Island with his brother John. They were stone masons. They built a stone church for Gov. Kieft in 1642. Richard later settled in Fairfield, CT. There he contracted to run a mill on Mill River. He erected a stone house near the mill. -------------------- This branch of the Ogden family is known as the Fairfield Ogdens. -------------------- NOTE:Richard and his wife Mary, appear to have been living in Connecticut by the middle 1650's. It is presumed that they came to North America from England.
