Richard Penfold 1545 married Elizabeth Parson at Goring in 1570. He then served an apprenticeship as a butcher (possibly with her father) and in 1579 he was granted title to a croft in Ham, Angmering (Gratwicke papers, WSRO). His brother, Thomas Penfold married Agnes Baker of Ferring.

Joan Smith puzzles me ........ she married Thomas Olliver on 7th Feb 1587 (marriage licence) at Lyminster Church.

Their daughter Alice Olliver married Hugh Penfold on 23 Sept 1612 at Arundel."
