About Richard Pigot

1793: Richard entered the Army as Captain of a new independent company of foot; 1798: became a Captain of Dragoons; 1804: attained his majority; 1806 was with the 21st Light Dragoons at the taking of the Cape, stationed there for over 12 years (1806 Major, 1809 Lt Col, 1811 Col); He died a General, and a knight, at the age of 94, having retired to live in the house in Chievely originally owned by his brother George.
