The ALGORE family lived in Lindsell since 1409. , but the records are not completely connected until a second William, the third generation of ALGORES in the records. The family owns Bynwodes farm, 14 acres of land called Hubbardes, plus a house and outbuildings. apparently, Robert, son of the William mentioned above, and his wife, Margaret, turned over Bynwodes to Thomas and Agnes, perhaps as a wedding present. I was given to Margaret and her daughter, so Agnes must have been under 21, and her mother acted temporarily as guardian. When her father died the next year, Agnes was the only heir, so she may have been an only child. (Source:"A Fitch Family History", pp. 78 -80).

Sir Robert Algore, of Brazen Head, Essex, near Lindsell. The name Brazen Head is called this from a large lion's head of brass which was affixed to the outer gate. This leonine door knocker which gave the farm its name is now exhibited in the British Museum.
