Robert was born in Pennsylvania and died in Wyoming County, New York. He married Jennett Hale in 1872 in Michigan. His death certificate states that his parents were John Plugh and Ellen Lane (Harriet Lane). No information on Robert before his 1872 marriage. In the 1880 census he is with Jennette and their 3 children and a nineteen year old young man, Wellington Plugh, born in Pennsylvania. Wellington is identified as "son". That is the one and only time I have found him. It stands to reason then that Robert had a previous marriage. I have found a possible candidate for Robert's father, John and it appears that his wife in the census was his second wife so it is possible that Ellen died when Robert was born and he was enumerated with another family under their name.
