About Robert Stanton
Descendant of Sir William Stanton, b. ABT 1390, England -------------------- 1627-38: Robert and Avis Stanton emigrated to America and settled in Newport, RI during this period.
1638- He and others were admitted inhabitants of the island of Aduidneck, which later encompassed Newport, Middletown , and Portsmouth, RI.
1638, September 15- He was fined 5 shillings for having engaged in a riot of drunkenness on the 13th.
