Robin Williams’ father dies
A private family service is planned for Robert Fitzgerald Williams of Tiburon, a retired auto company executive and father of actor-comedian Robin Williams.
Mr. Williams, who was 81, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1987, at home in his sleep after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Williams was born and reared in Evansville, Ind. He had a 29-year career as an executive with the Lincoln Mercury Division of the Ford Motor Co., working in Detroit and Chicago.
In 1968, he took an early retirement and moved to Tiburon, where he had lived since. After coming to Marin, he worked for a time as a management consultant.
In addition to his son, Robin, who lives in San Francisco and Hollywood, Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Laurie Williams of the family home; another son, Todd Williams of Healdsburg; a stepson, McLaurin Smith-Williams of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Gordon Williams of San Jose; and a grandson.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Heart Fund.
The Neptune Society is handling arrangements.
