William Simpson Will Take Washington Girl as His Bride ~ By Judith Cass

News of interest here comes from Mrs. Clark McIlwaine of Washington, D.C., who today is announcing the engagement of her daughter, Miss Romaine Dahlgren Pierce, to William Simpson of Locust Valley, NY, youngest son of Mrs James Simpson of Glencoe and the late Mr Simpson. Friends of young Mr Simpson met his fiancee when she was here with him for a visit with his mother last week.

Miss Pierce is the daughter of the late Vinton Dahlgren Pierce of Washington, who was a grandson of Adm. John Dahlgren of Civil War fame. She was educated at the Beaver County Day school in Boston and at Foxcroft school in Virginia.

Mr Simpson, who served during the war with the American field service, attended St Paul's school in Concord, NH and was graduated from Harvard University in 1934. His brothers are James Simpson Jr and John M Simpson.

Romaine Lady Milford Haven of 510 Park Avenue and James Busch Orthwein of St. Louis will be married on Friday at her apartment. State Supreme Court Justice Irving H. Saypol is expected to perform the ceremony.

Lady Milford Haven, who has been a professional model for the last five years, is the daughter of Mrs. Clark McIywaine of Washington. In 1950 she was married to the Marquess of Milford Haven, a great‐great‐grandson of Queen Victoria. The marriage ended in divorce in 1954, when Lady Milford Haven obtained a Mexican decree. She obtained a London decree in 1960.

The bride‐to‐be, daughter also of the late Vinton Ulric Dahlgren Pierce of Washington, was Miss Romaine Dahlgren Pierce at her first marriage in 1946 to William Simpson of Locust Valley, L. I. She had a daughter, Gwendolyn, by that marriage before it ended in divorce.

Mr. Orthwein is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Percy J. Orthwein of St. Louis. He is vice president of the D'Arcy Advertising Agency, of which his father was president. His mother was a member of the Busch family, founders of the Anheuser‐Busch brewery. Mr. Orthwein has also been married and divorced.
