Gdy zmarł w r. 705 jego stryj Basilus, który był biskupem Trewiru, objął po nim tę stolicę. Zapewne dzięki poparciu Karola Młota w zarząd otrzymał także biskupstwa w Reims i Laon. Zmarł w Reims 29 września między r. 717 a 722. Pochowano go w ufundowanym przezeń opactwie.
