About Samuel Davis, Sr.

Samuel Davis was made freeman March 91, 1689-90. He was with Major Simon Willard at the Brookfield fight on Sept. 28, 167'5. (King Philip's War, p. 121.)

His farm was on the back road from Concord to Bedford, about three miles from Concord town, on the edge of the river meadow.

-------------------- Samuel Davis, born July 11,1639 in Cambridge Ma; died October 30, 1720 in Concord, Middlesex Co., MA. He was the son of Dolar Kent Davis and Marjory Willard. He married Mary Meadows. Mary Meadows, born Abt. 1639 in Lynn, Essex Co. MA; died October l7, 1710 in Concord Middlesex Co., MA. She was the daughter of Philip Meadows and Elizabeth lggleden. Notes for Samuel Davis: First married to Mary Meades [Meddowes] who died l0/17/l710 then married Ruth Taylor who dies in 1720 Had at least 7 children. Samuel Davis was a Freeman, March 21, 1689 to 1690.He was with Major Simon Willard at the Brookfield fight on Sept. 28, 167'5. (King Philip's War, p. 121.) He settled in that part of Concord which became Bedford, and his homestead is still owned by his descendants today. It is located on the back road from Concord to Bedford, about 3 miles from Concord, on the edge of the river meadow. A well is there which he is said to have dug. He was still living March15,1714 and had already settled upon his sons most of his land during his life time. According to Savage Report, Eleazer, Stephen and Simon were triplets b. 5/26/1680 in Concord. On June 20,1690, Samuel petitioned Concord authorities for 'a bridal path from his house to Billerica road In 1706 he conveys houses and lands to his 'two well beloved sons.' On May 8,1713 he sells house, barn and 9 acres to Eleazer Davis for L50. It appears that he gave his property to his family while living'"

Samuels Wife and children match up to the times in the paragraph so I believe that at one time he must have moved there and sired these children there in Groton. this is the passage word for word " Samuel of Groton, by wife Mary, had a daughter born January 31, 1662; John, March 10, 1664; Sarah, August 12, 1667; Samuel, January 10, 1669; Barnabus, April 17, 1672; and a daughter April 10, 1674; and died December 28, 1699
