Wer Einmal War states that Samuel Kanitz had "three sons -- Simon, Ignaz and Sigmund Kanitz -- who settled in Vienna in the 19th century" (WEW pp. 1322-1325).

But another son appears in Czech Jewish Registers, www.badatelna.cz, Mikulov marriages: Lazar, age 30, son of Samuel Leb & Chaile Kanitz, b. 1836, marrying Juli dau. of Josef Violin, age 24, on Dec. 29, 1866 (Mikulov Marriages 1849-1879, image #52 of 71, line #442. They appear in Vienna later [births], with Lazar becoming Louis in the late 1860s).

A Samuel Löb Kanitz died in Nikolsburg on Feb. 17, 1870 in Haus #84, 72 years old [b. 1797/98]; listed as "Samuel Löb gattin v. Chaile Kanitz." Image is at badatelna.cz, Czech Registers, Nikolsburg (Mikulov) Deaths [Z] 1850-1873, #111 of 126 ("page 109" of the volume).

In the Nikolsburg Jewish Cemetery Database at jewishgen.org, the grave is listed as "VI_27_8 KANITZ Schmuel Löb."

A different Samuel Kanitz died in Vienna in 1866. That death appears at genteam.at in Jewish Burials in Währing [Cemetery], Vienna 1784-1879
