JACKSON TOWNSHIP
Samuel RIDDLE, the subject of this sketch, was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, July 8, 1794. His father, whose name was also Samuel, came to Jackson township, now Mahoning county, about the year 1803 or 1804. He settled on the Meander where he erected one of the first mills in that locality, which was long known as Riddle's mill. Samuel Riddle, our subject, was married June 18, 1818, to Polly CAMPBELL, daughter of William CAMPBELL, who was born in Pennsylvania March 28, 1792. By this marriage there were six children, viz: William C., Martha J., Margaret, Samuel, and a pair of twins that died in infancy. Both the daughters are now deceased. Margaret was the wife of Gibson EWING. Samuel RIDDLE died March 30, 1869, and his wife Polly November 2, 1854.
