Samuel Tallmadge was born December 10, 1787, at Rhinebeck, New York, and died December 13, 1868, at Piqua, Ohio. At Roxbury, Conn., he married Ann Maria Smith, January 1, 1815. In 1818 he left Litchfield, Conn., where he was engaged in the store of his uncle, Col. Benjamin Tallmadge, and settled at Glens Falls, New York. He was Justice of the Peace for twenty years, County Superintendent of Schools and Elder in the Presbyterian church. In 1848 he moved to Sprinfield Ohio, and in 1857 he settled at Piqua, Ohio.
Note: the following sentance appears on the back of a family group record but has been crossed out: "Samuel H. Tallmadge posed for the leg of Washington in the famous picture that was being painted."

PROBLEM: A second marriage is shown for Samuel in 1834. In a possible match in the 1850 census there is a female person named A.M Tallmadge. (presumably Ann Maria) living in the household age 45.
