Santiago Garcia Guevara graduated from West Point in 1923, returned to the Philippines and became the Commandant of Cadets in the Philippine Military Academy. In World War II, Lt. Col. Guevara was assigned to Orani, Bataan, as a member of the Philippine Scouts, and as Topographical Officer of the U.S. Army Survey Troops. He would later join and survive the Bataan Death March.
