About Sarah Jane Cornelison

She was the sunshine of our home"

In the spring of 1851, a wagon train reached present-day Oregon, carry Joseph Cornelison. Joseph had been married but recently had lost his wife and child. In the same wagon train was a woman named Sarah Jane Adams. Joseph and Sarah married and became one of the first families to settle in the area what would become Myrtle Creek. All 12 of their children were born in the home they built on the donation land claim. Nine members of the family are believed to be buried in the pioneer cemetery, though most of the markers have disappeared.
