About Sarah Greer (Day)

Sarah Day, b. ca 1683-1686 of Nicholas [c1620].

Sarah Day is mentioned in her father's will as wife of Obadiah Picchet at that time--1704. (BCW 3:47-8)

She subsequently married John Greer and is so listed in her mother's will.(BCW Box 5, folder 87)

Her youngest child was born about 1728. Assuming that she was not over 45 at the time her youngest child was born, Sarah Day was born not earlier than 1683. Assuming that she was at least 18 by the time she is first mentioned as married in 1704, she was born not later than 1686.

According to her father's will her two sisters were younger than she.

John Greer, her husband, testified in 1738 that he was fifty years old at the time, placing his birth about 1688. (Maryland History Magazine 18:21) He was the son of James Greer and Ann Taylor.
While the sons received land from their father, Sarah was willed "all that parte of my stock of hoggs that is of her proper markes." Her husband Obediah Prichett was also given "six young sows with pig."
From her mother Sarah received an equal share of her goods and chattels

John Greer was active in buying land from 1718 to 1720. Greer's Discovery, 92 acres, rent 0-3-3 1/2, surveyed to John Greer, Jan 23, 1720, lying on the north side of Main Falls of Gunpowder River." (Certificate EI3:443) was patented to Thomas Greer (BCLO BI:410). John Greer was selling land from 1747 to 1748. After the April 4, 1748 sale, no further records concerning John Greer have been found in Maryland

John Greer left a nuncupative will in Augusta Co, Virginia in 1750. "Mr. Torrence of Md, an early researcher of Md. Greers, thought it most probable that this John was the same of Md. record who married Sarah Day."
"One source says John Greer died in Baltimore County about 1756, Sarah Day Greer died there in 1742 and both are buried in 'Baltimore County Cemetery.."(45) The children are listed in St. John's parish.
