Immediate Family

About Sarah Lyons Taylor (Bigler)

Her first husband was Caleb Washington Lyons. He was killed while working on the riverboat Edward Bates on the Mississippi River when its boiler exploded. His body was never found.

The LDS Church Ancestral File says she died on October 3, but cemetery records (Utah Burials database) indicate she died and was buried on October 2. Her obituary being printed in the Salt Lake Herald on October 3rd would indicate that she in fact did die on the 2nd, as it would probably take at least a day in order to get it in the newspaper.

Sarah was one of the Utah Pioneers, making the trek west in 1850 with her children and is mentioned in the book "Pioneers and Prominent Men of Utah", by Frank Esshom, Utah Pioneers Book Publishing Company (1913) under the section on her son Oscar Fitzalan Lyons who was a prominent figure of that time.
