About Job Drake

On 19 December 1659 The Magistrates of Windsor, Connecticut met to settle differences regarding the estate of John Drake, Sen. Among the differences were demands by Job Drake for compensation for "his service done for his father, 2ndly his £20 portion, 3rdly his two journeys to Pascataway, 4th Money lent to his father, last by his Claime to part of ye Home Lott..."7

Will

His will was dated on 14 September 1689 "Job Drake, Senr. of Windsor." Gives to his wife the use of my dwelling house and barn, orchard and home-lott, except that which I give to my son Job, with my Pasture I bought of Goodman Bissell, the land in the Little Meadow & the 10 acres of land I had of my brother Christopher, and the enclosed lands in the Wood, and that which lyeth against my door of my dwelling house and £40 of my household goods. I give to my son Job six acres of land that I had of my Father Drake. I give to him and his heirs forever, my dwelling house, barn, orchard and homelott with all my land in the town of Windsor, excepting such parcells that I shall otherwise dispose of, provided that he record to his son Job that house and that part of the homelott, with his barn, which he now injoyeth, with his lowest lott towards Poduncke at 21 years of age. To daughter Elizabeth, 4 acres of land in the Great Meadow bought of Goodman Thrall, at my wife's decease. To Ephraim Colton, 40 shillings and a small Rapier. To my grandchild Israel Dewey, 2 young steers and also a chest marked E. D. To my grandchild Susannah Packer, my land at Greenfield, and the product of 14 acres I sold to I sold to Nahan, or the land if he pay not for it, according to his Bill or Bonds. To Joseph Dewey, £4 of my estate to be paid to him when my son Job possesseth the rest of my lands. To my grandchild Mary Drake, that what is due me from my Father Drake's estate, also from my brother Jacob's estate, also£4. To my grandson Joseph Dewey, Land over the River beyond John Osborn's which was my Father Drake's. To my grandchild Job Colton, £5 in a young beast, and a gunn. I give to Elizabeth, my son Job's wife, 50 shillings in some good thing. The remainder of my estate to be divided amongst my children, that is, Job, Abigail, Elizabeth and Esther. I ordain my son Job Drake as sole executor. John Moore and Thomas Griswold to be Supervisors. Proved 11 Nov 1689.8
