Joseph resided in Taunton on the westerly side of Scaddings pond. He was a soldier in King Philip's war and was wounded in the "Swamp Fight." He is mentioned in the Plymouth Colony records as one of those who was paid for killing wolves. He was a large owner of land in the vicinity of Scaddings and Watson's pond. He married Mary ? and died in 1724. Ten children, all born in Taunton. The oldest, Lydia was born Aug. 17,1682
