Rabbi Shmuel (Heilprin) Hillman, chief rabbi of Metz, France (born 1670 in Krotoszyn in Poland) He was also the chief rabbi of Mannheim.

Among numerous accomplishments, he provided the Jewish community of Metz with the first Hebrew printing shop in France, thus helping establish some independence from Germany and Poland in the field of printing.

Not sure of place of death. One source says that in later years, he returned to Germany where he became chief rabbi of Hamburg-Altona, until his death in 1764.
