Biographical Summary

"Only son of Sir James Campbell of Aberuchil, and Ann, daughter of Sir Patrick Hepburn of Blackcastle. He was very young when he lost his father, who was killed at the battle of Worcester in 1651. He was appointed by parliament one of the justices of the peace for the county of Perth in 1663, and on the 4th November 1654 was admitted advocate...

...He was appointed an ordinary Lord at the Revolution, took his seat on 1st November 1689, was also nominated a Lord of Justiciary 27th January 1690, and at the same time named one of the king's privy councillors...

...Upon the accession of Queen Anne, he was continued in his offices, and also named one of her privy council, and died at Edinburgh 16th February 1704."
