Sir David Lindsay, 1st Lord Lindsay of Balcarres was baptised on 17 March 1587 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.[2]

He married Lady Sophia Seton, daughter of Alexander Seton, 1st Earl of Dunfermline and Lilias Drummond, on 16 February 1611/12 at Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland.[2]

He died in March 1641/42.[2],[3] He was buried at Chapel, Balcarres, Fife, Scotland.[2]

He was the son of John Lindsay of Balcarres, Lord Menmuir and Marion Guthrie.[1],[2]

  • He was invested as a Knight in 1612.[2]
  • He was created 1st Lord Lindsay of Balcarres [Scotland] on 27 June 1633, with a special remainder to his heirs male bearing the name Lindsay.[1]
  • He steadfastly adherred to the King (Charles I, during the English Civil Wars).[2]
  • He lived at Balcarres, Fife, Scotland.[1]
