About Edward Moseley
Edward Moseley was the son of Oswald Moseley of Ancoats. He was born c.1618. Edward married Jane Meriel Saltonstall, the daughter of Richard Saltonstall and Muriel Gurdon. He was educated to be a barrister and was appointed in 1652 one of the Commissioners for Administration of Justice in Scotland. He held that office throughout the Protectorate of Cromwell. After the Restoration, that position was replaced. He was sent to Ireland to serve as a justice, which he did until 1655. His cousin Sir Edward Moseley died and named him heir of a large estate.He was knighted at Whitehall in 1689 and died in 1695.
The surname Moseley is also spelled Mosley and Mosely.
