-------------------- Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset was born circa 1500. He was the son of Sir John Seymour and Margaret Wentworth. He married, firstly, Catherine Filliol, daughter of Sir William Filliol and Dorothy Ifield, circa 1527. He and Catherine Filliol were divorced circa 1535. He married, secondly, Anne Stanhope, daughter of Sir Edward Stanhope and Elizabeth Bourchier, circa 1537. He died on 22 January 1552 at Tower Hill, The City, London, England, beheaded.

He was created 1st Viscount Beauchamp [England] on 5 June 1536. He was created 1st Earl of Hereford [England] on 18 October 1537. He was created 1st Duke of Somerset [England] on 16 February 1547. In 1552. His honours were forfeited
