About Sir Francis Willoughby 1st Bt of Wollaton
Francis Willoughby, of Wollaton, co. Nottingham, Esq., 1st s. and h. of Francis Willoughby, of Middleton, co. Warwick, F.R.S., the celebrated Naturalist (author of a book on Ornithology), by Emma (marr. lie. Vic. Gen., 19 Dec. 1667), 2d da. and coheir of Sir Henry Barnard, or Bernard, of Stoke and Bridgenorth, Salop, and Aconbury, co. Hereford, Turkey-Merchant, of London, was b. in 1668; suc. his father (who d. at the age of 37), 3 July 1672, and, in consequence, presumably, of his said father's literary attainments, was (when under nine years of age), cr. a Baronet, as above, 7 April 1677, "with [a special] remainder for lack of issue male to Thomas [Willoughby], his brother, and to the heirs male of his body." He d. unm. Sep. 1688, in his 20th year. Will pr. Dec. 1688.
