John Garrard, of Lamer [in Wheathampstead], co. Herts., Knt., s. and h. ap. of Sir John Garrard, of Lamer aforesaid, sometime (1601-02) Lord Mayor of London, by Jane, da. of Richard Partridge, of London, Citizen and Haberdasher, which John (who d. 7 May 1625, aged 79) was 3d s., but eventually h. male of Sir William Garrard, of Dorney, Bucks, and of Lamer aforesaid, also sometime (1555-56), Lord Mayor of London ; was b. about 1590 ; matric. at Oxford (Ch. Ch.), 31 Oct. 1605, aged 15 ; B.A., 13 April 1608 ; admitted to Middle Temple, 2 Feb. 1608/9 ; Knighted at Whitehall, 26 Feb. 1614/5, and was cr. a Bart., as above, 26 Feb. 1621/2. He suc. his father, 7 May 1625. He m. firstly, 6 May 1611, at St. Mary Aldermary, Elizabeth, 1st da. of Sir Edward Barkham, of Southacre, Norfolk, sometime (1621-22) Lord Mayor of London, by Jane, da. of John Crouch, of Cornbury, Herts. She (who was mother of fourteen children) d. 17 April 1632, in her 39th year, and was bur. at Wheathampstead, Herts. M.I. He m. secondly, 3 June 1636, at Westcombe, co. Kent (reg; also at St. Mary's Wolnoth), Jane, widow of Sir Moulton Lambarde, of Sevenoaks, Kent, 4th da. of Sir Thomas Lowe, sometime (1604-06), Lord Mayor of London, by Anne, da. of Gabriel Coulston, of that city. He d. (less than a year afterwards) 1637. Will dat. 8 April to 20 May, and pr. 21 June 1637. His widow, who was bap. 16 March 1592/93, at St. Peter le Poor, London, was bur. there 22 Feb . 1672/3. Will pr. 1673.
