Sir Robert West was the son of Sir Thomas West, 2nd Baron de la Warr and wife Anne Knollys. He was born 3 Jan 1575 in Wherwell, Hampshire, England1574, and predeceased his father, which means he died before 1601.

It is often reported that he married Elizabeth Coks (or Cox or Cock). This may be an error. His nephew Robert West, son of Thomas West III, is also reported as marrying a lady of the same name. See http://thepeerage.com/p24497.htm.
