About Sir Thomas Taylor, 1st Marquess of Headfort

Sir Thomas Taylour, 1st Marquess of Headfort was born on 18 November 1757. He was the son of Thomas Taylour, 1st Earl of Bective and Jane Rowley. He married Mary Quin, daughter of George Quin and Caroline Cavendish, on 5 December 1778. He died on 24 October 1829 at age 71.

He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kells between 1776 and 1790. He held the office of Sheriff of County Meath in 1786. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Longford between 1790 and 1794. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Meath from 1794 to 1795. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Earl of Bective, of Bective Castle, co. Meath [I., 1766] on 14 December 1795. He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Taylor, of Kells, co. Meath [I., 1704] on 14 December 1795. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Headfort, of Headfort, co. Meath [I., 1760] on 14 December 1795. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Viscount Headfort, of Headfort, co. Meath [I., 1762] on 14 December 1795. He was created 1st Marquess of Headfort [Ireland] on 29 December 1800. He held the office of Representative Peer [Ireland] between 1801 and 1829. He was invested as a Knight, Order of St. Patrick (K.P.) in 1806. He held the office of Lord of the Bedchamber between 1812 and 1829.
