Sir WILLIAM MURRAY OF TULLIBARDINE; served heir to his uncle, Sir John, in the lands of Polgour and Clow 1527, acquired Wester Locheane in Strathearn 1558; married c April 1538 Katherine, daughter of Sir Duncan Campell of Glenorchy (see BREADALBANE AND HOLLAND, E), and died 30 Jan 1562, leaving, with a daughter (Annabel, married 17th Earl of Mar, qv):

• Sir WILLIAM MURRAY OF TULLIBARDINE; Jt Govr to JAMES VI (later also I of England) and Keeper Stirling Castle 1572; Comptroller Scotland; married 15 April 1547 Lady Agnes Graham, 3rd daughter of 2nd Earl of Montrose (see MONTROSE, D), and died 16 March 1583, having had, with other issue (including William and Mungo (Sir)):

(97) Sir William Murray of Tullibardine, died 16th March 1582-83. (B-p states 1583) He was served heir to his grandfather 8th April 1530. His Will recorded 28th May 1599 (Edinburgh). He was Controller of Scotland from 1566 till shortly before his death. He married, before 27th May 1547, Agnes Graham, daughter of William, second Earl of Montrose, and had issue:

• 97(a) Sir John (No. 98 below).
• 97(b) Captain William Murray of Pitcairly, living 1618.
• 97(c) Colonel Alexander Murray of Drumdewan. He was in the Dutch service, and was killed at Bommel 19th May 1599.
• 97(d) Sir Mungo, ancestor of Murray of Blebo (No. 127 below).
