Solomon, Sr. & Isabella (Boyd) West were married in NC c. 1756. Isabella was the daughter of James and Mary (Cochran) Boyd. Solomon & Isabella (Boyd) West had the following known children: James (c. 1758); Susannah (c. 1760 - ) m. William Sutton; Ruth (c. 1762) m. Thomas Castillo; Mary (c. 1764) m. Isaac Dunagan; Alexander (c. 1765 Greenville District, SC - 1860); Isaac (6/12/1768 NC/SC? - 11/1/1830 Wayne Co., KY) m. Margaret Russell; Ann m. 1st Basil Brown, m. 2nd William Borin; James; George; and Solomon West (1770 - 1871 TX) - died at age 101.

Solomon & Isabella lived in Orange Co., NC for many years. The last record showing him to be in Orange County was record showing that Solomon West bought a fiddle on 12 Nov 1772 at an estate sale. Not long thereafter, and still before the Revolution, Solomon moved near King's Mountain in Tryon County, NC, which at that time included land now in SC. The family still resided in that location after the start of the Revolutionary War, and also during the Battle of King's Mountain. Isabella was the mother of all of Solomon's children.

After Isabella's death, Solomon remarried to Mary Boyd, thought to be a sister of Isabella. After the war ended, Solomon moved his family to Greenville District, SC where he lived until 1780, which was about the time of his 2nd wife Mary's death. He had purchased land in Greenville District and lived there until c. 1800. Solomon then moved to Wayne Co., KY, and several of his children made the move with him. According to family tradition, Solomon walked all the way to his new home in Kentucky, even though he was 74 years old at the time!

On 29 Jul 1802 when Solomon was 76, he married for the 3rd time in Wayne Co., KY to Martha (Higgens) Norton, widow of Mercer Norton. Solomon died in Wayne County, Kentucky on 1 Dec 1830, at the age of 104.

Solomon is found on the 1810 Census of Madison Co., KY - per researchers http://www.gencircles.com/users/ljmoser/1/data/51 and Robert Suddath - 10405 Red Mtn. W., Littleton. CO 80127 - rasuddath@msn.com.

He is also enumerated on the 1820 & 1830 Census records of Wayne Co., KY (he died in Dec. 1830).
