From: "Phil Goff" <philgoff@comcast.net> To: <mdstmary@rootsweb.com> Date: Fri, 3 Nov 2006 06:13:35 -0500 Subject: Re: [MDSTMARY] Descent of the Tattershalls of Maryland from the Mompessons of Bathampton Todd, This is a long shot, but in your research of the Tattershall family in England, have you come across the Gough/Goffe family? It was well known that Stephen Goffe was transported to Maryland in 1664/65, but when I obtained the surviving 1726 copy of Folios 1 -10 of the original 1667 Liber, it revealed that Stephen Goffe was transported by "William Tettershall," presumably the same man who was the future brother-in-law of Stephen Gough (d. 1700). I've never found any good information on the logistics of transporting people to Maryland. Did they generally live in the hometown of the sponsor? We don't know where Stephen Goffe/Gough lived in England, which leads back to my original question if you've come across the Gough/Goffe surname in England in the same places where the Tattershall family lived. Thanks, Phil Goff
