About Stephen J Perry

He was a member of Capt. Adijah Bangs' company, in Col. Dicke's regiment of militia per DAR's "Lineage Book of the Charter Members" by Mary S Lockwood, published 1895 -------------------- Stephen Perry, his wife and their son, Benjamin came to Port Roseway as a Loyalist in 1783. Lewis Perry has documeneted (Bell. D.C. "Early Loyalists of St. John") that Stephen joined the "Bay of Fundy Adventurers" and left for St. John with his family, on board the transport ship "Symmetry". They arrived on 5 July but stayed only a short time as they were in Shelburne on 25 Nov 1783 when he was one of the signees for his father's claim for losses in the Revolutionary War. He received a grant of 55 acres on the East side of Cape Negro Harbour. His estate (A 171 at the Shelburne Registery dated 18 Feb 1813) took a long time to setle, namely until 1829. There are clear signatures of his heirs; Benjamin Perry, Marrtha King, Stephen Perry, Charlotte Perry, Peter Perry, Lydia Wadsworth, Catherine Perry, Edward Perry, Belina Perry, Margaret Hager and Hannah B. Perry. Stephens occupation was listed as a "Farmer".
