About Susan Vergereau Bradford (Boudinot)

From Military History magazine, January, 2014, p. 38: "But when the tea tax uproar swept the colonies in 1770 and inspired a boycott, he [ William Franklin, Royal Governor of New Jersey ] showed his opposition by holding tea gatherings at the governor's house. At one of the teas 9-year-old Susan Boudinot became famous for accepting a cup of tea, curtsying--and then emptying the cup out a window to show her support for the boycott."
