Married Joel Hills Johnson 20 Oct 1840
From Joel Hills Johnson's Diary: I went to work again on my house which I had been building in Ramus, and on the 20th day of October 1840, I took to wife by marriage, Miss Susan Bryant, daughter of Charles Bryant. She assisted in taking care of my former wife through her sickness. She was born at Vergeners in the state of Vermont, August 28, 1813. Her mother's name was Susan Filler.
Information from the Pioneer History Resource Room at the Mormon Trail Center at Historic Winter Quarters: "Ramus is also known as Perkins Settlement, Crooked Creek and Ramus, Macedonia and Webster. In 1839 Joel Hills Johnson and other missionaries came to the area and converted the Perkins family and other families living along Crooked Creek. They became known as the Crooked Creek Branch. In 1840 the town of Ramus, a Latin word which means ‘branch', was laid out on land owned by Ute Perkins."
Another entry from the diary of Joel Hills Johnson: 31st day of December 1845, myself and wife (Susan) received our endowments in the Lord's House in Nauvoo,
