About Thomas Aitchison-Denman

Educated at Eton, he matriculated at Oxford's Brasenose College on 17 May 1823. He then became a Barrister in 1833 and an associate to his father when Chief Justice of the Queen's Bench from 1832 till 1850. After his second marriage, by royal licence on 20 December 1876, he took the name of Aitchison before that of Denman, under the will of this second wife's mother. He died, aged 89, somewhat suddenly of heart disease on 9 August 1894, at the King's Arms hotel, Berwick. As he was childless, his great nephew, Thomas Denman, succeeded him as 3rd Lord Denman.
