The Berrington family arrived in South Africa under the name of Lamb , having swapped tickets with the family of that name, who in turn went to Australia on the Berrrington family tickets.
Thomas Berrington, farmer, 25 years old , born 1798 and his wife Diana Collin , 27 years old (1791 - 1864) who was the daughter of William and Patience Collin and their baby Thomas Tickna (1 year old) arrived in Mahoneys party on the ship "Northampton" and settled at Coombs river.
By 1825 the party had dispersed and Thomas was to be found at Port Francis. Thomas became a director of the Albany Shipping Company in 1826 and of the Grahamstown Bathurst and Kowie Shipping Company in 1843. Also committee member of Lower Albany Agricultural Society 1848. He died at Sidbury Park and is buried there alongwith Diana and Charlotte, his daughter.
