Thomas Black, educated at Univ. of Glasgow ; licen. by Presb. of Cupar 9th July 1695 ; ord. to Strathmiglo 12th Sept. 1695 ; trans, to Wemyss 14th Oct. 1697; trans, to Second Charge 5th April 1698 ; trans, and adm. in 1705 ; app. Professor of Divinity in St Mary's College, St Andrews, by Queen Anne in Sept. 1707, but retained his parochial charge ; elected Moderator of General Assembly 11th May 1721 ; died 25th Oct. 1739. He marr. Jean (died 18th July 1750), daugh. of James Drummond of Comrie, and had issue —
