About Thomas Burris Embree

1775 in Orange Co., Va. 1 2 Death: 1845 in Middle Grove, Monroe Co., Mo. 1 3 Lt. in the 17th Reg. from Clark Co., Kentucky Militia (Corn

Stalk Militia). Served under the command of Gen. Andrew Jackson

in the War of 1812. Probably at the battles of Horseshoe Bend

and New Orleans.

It is believed he migrated to Missouri by wagon train in 1820

with eleven sons and three daughters. They settled in Howard
Co., near Fayette. The children scattered to the Burton, Clark
and Madison areas, and into Pettis Co. One son went to the
Oregon Territory in 1854, becoming popular and active in the
