He was married November 28, 1672, and to him and his wife, Mary, were born five children, the eldest of whom was Thomas Griswold II, whose birth occurred in Wethersfield, June 11, 1674. In 1695, when twenty-one years of age, he removed to Guilford, being the first representative of the family in that city, where he spent his remaining days, his death occurring October 19, 1729.
