 THOMAS OLIVER.  Born 23 May 1770.

Kent County, Delaware. Died 15 Dec 1812, off the coast of Spain. Married 1791, SARAH AMBROSE. Born 1771, Virginia. Died 6 Nov 1845, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Thomas Oliver was a sea captain, in charge of the brig “Nancy and Kate.” He was lost at sea in a great storm off the coast of Spain. His son Paul, who was the mate at just sixteen years of age at the time, brought the ship safely back to port. Thomas was the grandfather of Brigadier General Paul Ambrose Oliver, of Civil War fame, through his son of the same name
