My line is from Tiberius Beeldsnijder who came from Cullemburgh, Holland via the Island of Curacau. He was a ship's captain for the Dutch West Indies Co. He came the the United States via New Orleans about 1820. His name was "Americanized" to Thomas Bellsnyder. I believe he was the son of Tiberius Beeldsnijder Matroos and Catharena Margaretha De Petersen, she was a Holy Roman Imperial Baroness. I have not found any proof that Tiberius and Catharena had any children but the name and the fact that my Tiberius (Thomas) left Holland 2years after the death of the older Tiberius.
The Beeldsnijder's were a very interesting family. There are three portraits in the Vanderbilt University Archives. Elizabeth Evert Bellsnyder (Mrs. Samuel Jackson Keith), Samuel Bellsnyder, and Samuel Keith from before 1860.
