The return voyage on his repatriation (leave), started with departure on Ship, Akerendam, from Batavia on 11th May 1744. It arrived in the Cape on 1st February 1745 and departed there on 16th April 1745. It arrived at it's destination on 26th August 1745.
He went there to deal with the estate of his deceased parents and oldest brother, this indicates a degree of prosperity on his Swedish family.
He leaves his wife and children behind in Batavia, and only returns almost 10 years later.

The ship arrived in the Cape on 16th October 1753, and departed there on 3rd November 1753, and eventually arrived in Batavia (Jakarta, Indonesia) on 19th January 1754.
He enters Ceylon as Major, leaving his wife and children behind, with the exception of his now 14-year old son, Ulrich Gualtherus who accompanies him to Ceylon as a clerk.
