About Wilhelm Hansen Heiberg Uchermann, Dr.

Dr. Wilhelm Uchermann was a beautiful, huge man and strong as a bear. In 1836 he took private discharged his student graduated with honors and the year after the other philosophical examination same character. During his medical studies, which followed thereafter, he practiced in 1840 as candidate at the National Hospital and on 25.11.1842 he received his medical degree with honors. In April following year he was appointed as a private practitioner in Åmot in Oster Valley. It was here he met with local foresters and timber dealers and began to speculate in the forest and timber trade. He was very lucky and assembled within a short time a considerable fortune. In 1845 and 1846 he was appointed a year distriktslege, partly in the north, partly in the south Østerdalen. In 1848 he was the man for election Åmot. From 1855 to host 1856, he tried as a farmer, but abandoned it. He moved to Lillesand, where he later practiced as a doctor. At the same time he struck on the ship owner, and thereby increase their wealth substantially. From 1861 he was mayor of sunnhetskommissjonen (footnote: health council) for Lillesand, West Moland, Hoivåg and Birkenes and from 1866 also Heigrefos. In 1862 he became infected with diphtheria, which almost killed him. That same year his first wife died of pulmonary tuberculosis. She left her five children, who needed instruction and supervision. To this he hired the 21-year-old Miss Augusta Arentz. And she must be at least (47) its task well, for the following year, he may marry. He died in Lillesand on 29.12.1874 of kidney stones (uremi). His wife moved to Christiania, where she died 03.06.1808.

Wilhelm Uchermann var en vakker, kjempestor mann og sterk som en bjorn. I 1836 tok han privat dimittert sin studenteksamen med laud og året etter den filosofiske anneneksamen med samme karakter. Under sitt medisinske studium, som fulgte deretter, praktiserte han i 1840 som kandidat ved Rikshospitalet og 25.11.1842 fikk han medisinsk eksamen med laud. I april folgende år nedsatte han seg som privat praktiserende lege i Åmot i Osterdalen. Her kom han sammen med skogsfolk og trelasthandlere, og påvirket av disse begynte han å spekulere i skogshandel og trelast. Han var meget heldig og samlet seg innen kort tid en betydelig formue. I 1845 og 1946 var han i et år konstituert distriktslege, dels i nordre, dels i sondre Osterdal. I 1848 var han valgmann for Åmot. Fra 1855 til hosten 1856 forsokte han seg som gårdbruker, men oppga det. Han flyttet til Lillesand, hvor han senere praktiserte som lege. Samtidig slo han seg på skipsrederi og oket derved sin formue betydelig. Fra 1861 var han ordforer i sunnhetskommissjonen (fotnote: helserådet) for Lillesand, vestre Moland, Hoivåg og Birkenes og fra 1866 også for Heigrefos. I 1862 ble han smittet av difteri, som nær hadde tatt livet av ham. Samme år dode hans forste hustru av lungetuberkulose. Hun etterlot sig fem barn, som trengte undervisning og tilsyn. Hertil ansatte han den 21 årige froken Augusta Arentz. Og hun må ha fylt (47)sin oppgave godt, for allerede året etter tok han hende til ekte. Han dode i Lillesand den 29.12.1874 av nyresten (uremi).
