  • William Brewster Sr was a resident of Scrooby in 1571 and from 1575 he held the position of Bailiff of the Archbishop of York's estates at Scrooby and Master of the Queen's Posts, living at Scrooby Manor House. With this post went that of postmaster, which was a more important one than it might have been in a village not situated on the Great North Road, as Scrooby was then.
  • Likely the William Brewster who in 1558 witnessed the will of his uncle Christopher Mann at Scrooby
