   (2) 1703: Capt. John DODGE deeded to his son William some estate, and William covenants t o him 5 lbs. annually during John's life and provides for his wife Elizabeth during her life.
   (3) 1708, 20 Dec: Ebenezer WOODBURY of Salem, miller, Nathaniel WALDRON of Wenham, bricklayer, William DODGE Jr. of Beverly, malster, and Jonathan RAYMENT of Beverly, yeoman, all administrators of the estate of William DODGE of Beverly, deceased, lease to Jonathan DODGE of Salem for 7 years after 1 April next, the home living which was formerly Capt. John DODGE's, now belonging to the children of said William DODGE, deceased, partly in Beverly and in Salem , containing 54 acres, with house, barn and mills, being all set out in a deed of gift from Captain John DODGE, to said William DODGE. Also 4 acres of fresh meadow and 3 acres land in Proctor's Island, Chebacco. He died intestate, and his administrators, among whom was his wife's brother Ebenezer WOODBERY, leased the land and mills his father had deeded to him, including John WOODBURY's homestead, to Jonathan DODGE, William's brother. The lease was to extend 7 years from 1 Apr 1709.
   (4) 1710, 7 Jun: Ebenezer WOODBURY deposed that he was present Oct 1702 at Capt. John DODGE 's house and was witnessed to the transcation between said John DODGE and his son William and set his hand as witness to the deed, and said William gave a deed back to his father or his brother Jonathan, as his father desired 11 acres in Beverly and also surrendered a dwelling house to said father or brother Jonathan for him which he had built on a piece his father h ad given him by word of mouth.
   (5) 1720/1, 21 Mar: William DODGE's real estate was divided. The saw mill became the proper ty of William DODGE's son-in-law, Samuel WOODBERY, another son-in-law Joseph CREESY, and a minor daughter, Abigail. Away, 1 1/2 rods wide, was reserved for the use of the heirs, who also had the privilege of raising the water when it was needed at the mill and of flowing the land from Oct 31 to Apr 10 so long as the mill was "Repareable." Not only Capt. John DODGE's property lying west of the head of Bass River, but also that east of the river and the brook, the land which had been John WOODBERY's, passed through Capt. John DODGE's son William DODGE to the latter's son-in-law, Samuel WOODBERY.
   William married. 
   William married Hannah Woodbury, daughter of Unknown and Elizabeth. (Hannah Woodbury was baptized on 22 May 1670 in , Essex Co., Massachusetts.)

Deacon WILLIAM DOUGLAS III was born in New London, CT., on February 19, 1672. He was admitted to the church, July 24, 1698. The next year he removed with his wife and two children to "the new plantation on the Quinnebaug, which was afterwards named Plainfield". Here lands were set off to him "on the east side of the river". He also owned lands in Voluntown, which he purchased of his father, August 18, 1715, for "thirteen pounds of good and current money."

He was one of the little company that convenanted together and formed a church in Plainfield, in 1705. Deacon William was chosen as the new church's first deacon. The inscription on his gravestone in Plainfield, reads:

"In memory of Mr. William Douglas, Who was ye first Deacon of ye churh of Christ in Plainfield who Departed this life August ye 10th A.D. 1719 in ye 46th year of his Age."

In his will he provided for his wife Sarah and eleven children, all of the latter under twenty-one years old. His wife was Sarah Proctor, but no date of his marriage can be found in the New London records. His eldest two children were in New London, all of the others in Plainfield. His widow, Sarah, was living in 1729, but no record of er death has been found.
