Note: Hotten mentions Thomas Herndon, aged 23 years, as having sailed on Oct13, 1635, aboard the "Amite" for St. Christophers. John and Rhodes. Herndon said by some to be original Emigrants, came to this country early in 17th century, the one to Virginia the other to North Carolina near Releigh, the one settled for a time, but a few years later moved to Virginia. The first Herndon of whom we have authentic records is 1.William who patented lands in St. Stephens Parish, New Kent County,Virginia, In Feb. 1674.
