-------------------- "Both the Settlers' sons followed their father's trade as tailors. William James started his own business at Salem in 1837, but returned to Grahamstown five years later. From the year 1855, he and his family were living at Waterval, near Queenstown, and in the following decade at Bushes Hoek and Sterkfontein in the district of Cradock.
W J Muir, aged 87 was burried at Dordrecht on 26/12/1905. "He was born in London, but his parents were Scotch. They resided for some time in Ghahamstown and Salem. For the last 30 years Mr Muir lived in the Woodhouse District, and for the last 25 years of his life he was quite blind". (GTJ2/1/1906)
"William James Muir - at Dordrecht on 26th December the funeral took place of Mr W J Muir, aged 87 years. He was brought to the Colony by his parents, Settlers of 1820, when he was only two years of age. He was born in London but his parents were Scotch. They resided for some time in Grahamstown and Salem. For the last thirty years Mr Muir resided in Woodhouse District and for 25 years was quite blind".
