The Minor William who served See below

Whatever happened to/where did the Peytons go such as: John Peyton, Sr. & Jr., William Sr., Jr. and a Minor William Peyton(underage) who all served in the Am. Rev., and the other Peytons found in the period 1769 through 1800s who were living in Amherst Co., Va.? We still do not know where all these Peytons moved to after the late 1700's.

Yes, I just returned this evening from Virginia. I was at the Library in Richnond

and also at the regional library in Fredricksburg, I have been spending about 8 days each year for the past 3 yrs. since retirement researching the Peytons at the libraries in Va. We have the Peyton Society of Va. family reunion at the Aquia Church each May so have an excuse to go. Prior to these trips over the years I have researched the counties themselves in the early 1970's and several visits to the libraries before retirement.

We are still trying to find out what happened to the Peytons after they went from Stafford Co., Va. to Amherst Co., Va. Allmost all of the the Amherst Peytons vanished from the records. Philip and his son, Daniel Peyton went to Lincoln Co., Ky. and later Major Daniel Peyton d. in 1826 as Rep. to Ala. legislature. Valentine Peyton of Amherst went to Lincoln Co. Ky., and his will is there 1831.

Henry Peyton of the Am. Rev. of Amherst to Cabell Co., now W. Va, per pension records. James Peyton of the Am. Rev. will proved 1817 Casey Co., Ky. also of Amherst Co., Va. These two were younger men.

I helped in the research for the 1976 Peytons of Va. published by the Peyton Society of Virginia. The Society is scheduling publication for later this year a two volume set of 1,000 pages each as an update of the 1976 Peytons of Va.
