About William Pulley

William was a Revolutionary War pensioner. He applied for a pension in Mecklenburg County, Virginia 16 Mar. 1819. He gave his age as 62 and that he enlisted in Mecklenburg County, Virginia in the Company of Captain Samuel Hopkins of the 6th

Virginia Regiment. He told of service in both Northern and Southern battles

A Patriot soldier received 640 acres; non-commssioned officers 1,000 acres; Subaltern 2,450; Captain 3,840; Major 4,800; Lt. Col. 5,760; Lt. Col. Commandant 7,200; Col. 7,200; Brig. Gen. 12,000; Chaplain 6,200; Surgeon 4,800; Surgeon's Mate 2560. Heirs of any soldier who had fallen in the defense of his country received the full amount of his grant.
